In the music world, bands come and go. Some produce one hit and then fade off into oblivion. Few bands make successful careers spanning years, and even fewer bands make long-lasting careers while maintaining the same members. One of the few bands to do this is ZZ Top.
2019 marks 50 years since the band’s creation, and to celebrate the milestone, it is hitting the road for a tour.
Many bands are famous for their musical style, stage performances, or maybe even their off-stage antics. However, not many bands are known for their glorious facial hair.
ZZ Top may be known for its beards just as much as its music. Guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill wear iconic beards, and while the drummer has maintained a clean-shaven face for much of his career, Frank’s last name is Beard. Only in the past few years has he decided to let some facial hair grow.
The band has a unique classic rock sound, mixing blues and rock in a perfect concoction. Its distinct style is identifiable even for less avid fans. The group must be doing something right, because it has several certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum records. In 2004, ZZ Top had the honor of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The band’s 2019 tour has the men traveling all over Europe and then covering the United States. As one of Rock and Roll’s most iconic bands, ZZ Top will definitely not disappoint, and with 15 studio albums under its belt, fans are sure to hear hit after hit.
